NGPS’s Joanna Vintis receives Queens Nurse award for services to primary care nursing.

Newcastle GP Service’s lead nurse and head of workforce, Joanna Vintis, will be awarded the title ‘Queen’s Nurse’ this week for her years of work supporting the next generation of nurses in primary care. The title of Queen’s Nurse was awarded to just 587 nurses across the UK in 2024 and is only granted following a rigorous application process. The award acknowledges Joanna’s innovative approach to clinical education and community nursing, including helping student nurses and paramedics run clinics at GP practices and on the Newcastle Community Health Bus. These clinics included cervical screening, health check-ins and baby immunisations. Joanna follows another primary care nurse in Newcastle, Rebecca Shearer from West Road Medical Practice, in being awarded Queen’s Nurse, and NGPS is very proud to have them both representing the city. |
